Less than 1 % of textile waste worldwide is recycled into new fibres for the clothing industry.
It usually takes 2,700 litres of water to make one cotton t-shirt, which is enough water for one person to drink for 900 days.
Only about 15% of used clothes and other textiles get reused or recycled. The other 85% head straight to the landfill or incinerator.
