Used bed linens collected from Hampton by Hilton İzmir Aliağa have been transformed into various user-friendly products in collaboration with Loading Bag. These products have been offered to hotel guests as sustainable promotions. Product Features: • Material: 100% Cotton Upcycled Hotel Bed Linen • Dimensions: Width 23 cm, Length 35 cm • Weight: 29 grams Environmental Impact: • Carbon Emission Reduction: The production of each bag reduces carbon emissions by 0.13 kg CO2e. • Water Conservation: Each bag saves 5.5 cubic meters of water. • Energy Savings: Production results in an energy savings of 1 MJ/kg. • Total Impact: With the production of 50 bags, the daily carbon emissions of 656 trees are absorbed, and 1.3 million cups of water are saved. Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 5 (Gender Equality): • Women's Employment and Empowerment: The project involved local women in the workforce and provided them with opportunities for economic independence. This process allowed women to develop their professional skills and take on significant roles in the textile sector. SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth): • Fair Working Conditions and Economic Contribution: The project made a direct contribution to the local economy and ensured fair working conditions. The employment provided for women helped support sustainable economic growth. SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): • Waste Reduction and Resource Conservation: Converting vinyl materials into bags contributed to reducing waste and lowering raw material and energy consumption. This promoted responsible consumption and production practices. SDG 13 (Climate Action): • Reducing Carbon Footprint: The reuse of materials in the project significantly reduced the carbon emissions that would have been generated during the production of new products. This was considered an important step in combating climate change.
